Position Status:      Contracted for season – paid by stipend

The Varsity Head Coach is expected to adhere to Nardin Academy’s sports philosophy. They direct, organize and administer the sport at all levels within Nardin Academy’s Upper School athletics program including organizing practices, and teaching skills, personal responsibility and teamwork.

The overall direction of each sport lies with the varsity head coach. This includes hiring and evaluating assistants.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support Nardin Academy’s mission.
  • Understand that the goals and objectives of the entire athletics program, including the welfare, development and safety of the student-athletes are more important than those of any one sport.
  • Participate in meetings including pre-season coaches, pre-season parents, and any league coach gatherings.
  • Conduct practices on days when there are no competitions, and allow for at least two days off per week.
  • Responsible for all agenda items handouts, coaches’ notebooks and checklists covered in the pre-season coaches meeting.
  • Be familiar with and follow the policies and procedures listed in Nardin Academy’s athletics handbook and coach’s manual; adhere to the Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association standards.
  • Assist the admissions office in identifying prospective students.

 

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience at the high school or college level and/or experience coaching a high level travel program.
  • These certifications are required (these can be provided through Nardin):
  • CPR/AED/First Aid
  • Heads Up Concussion
  • Virtus through the Catholic Diocese
