Diversity Inclusion and Opportunity

Dear Nardin Community,

It is a privilege to serve as Nardin’s first Director of Diversity, Inclusion and Opportunity. Our country is becoming increasingly diverse. It is imperative for schools to prioritize efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within their school culture and within the classroom. Diversity not only includes demographic characteristics like race and ethnicity, but it includes all dimensions of one’s identity. Over the coming months and years, I look forward to working with the Nardin Community to achieve the goals that are embedded in the Academy’s mission. These priorities will guide the work of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Opportunity (DIO): 

My goals and objectives are to focus on:

  • Culture
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Systems Change

I want to iterate that this work belongs to all of us. Diversity refers to the range of identities that exist in a group of people or community, our Nardin Community. My hope is that we all take the time to explore and appreciate the ways in which we live in this world and our willingness to do the work.

Students are at the core of my vision for the DIO office and I am committed to fostering an inclusive environment so that all students can have a great experience while at the Academy. I have appreciated the many exchanges I have had with faculty across a variety of disciplines who are dedicated to sustained conversations about inclusive pedagogies.

I am here to bring subject-matter expertise to the table as we make decisions about our shared work and sustain efforts to stimulate a sense of community for all students. Your commitment is imperative as we look to achieve a more inclusive environment for all of our students, academy-wide.
