Class of 2024 Scholarships

Nardin Academy offers six, one-year scholarships to celebrate student talent and passion. Scholarship forms must be completed by December 20, 2019.

All Class of 2024 scholarship recipients will be honored at a Scholarship Mass and Brunch on Saturday, February 29, 2019.

Scholarships and Guidelines

Art Scholarship: $500

This scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved excellence in art.

How to apply:

  • Complete the Art Scholarship form by December 20, 2019
  • Digitally submit a portfolio of your work
    • Three to five pieces of original artwork, demonstrating skill in a variety of 2D and 3D mediums
  • One original work of art which reflects the Nardin Academy Portrait of a Graduate, to be accompanied by a written artist statement
    • A Nardin Academy Graduate:
      • is a creative, curious and critical learner
      • leads with confidence, strength and integrity
      • grows through faith and spirituality
      • champions equity and justice
      • serves others with humility and compassion
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a current or former art teacher to Mrs. Donohue at sdonohue@nardin.org
  • The scholarship recipient is expected to be an integral part of the fine arts program by:
    • Being actively engaged within their art courses.
    • Applying herself earnestly towards excellence in art by maintaining a B+ average in her art class
    • Presenting herself as a leader and a role model for her peers in art class
    • Engaging in art-making and art-related opportunities outside the school environment

Band and Orchestra Scholarship: $500/each

This scholarship is awarded to students who have achieved excellence in music.

How to apply:

  • Student should complete the appropriate form by December 20, 2019
  • Two major scales, at least 1 octave up to 3 sharps and 3 flats
  • One piece from the NYSSMA Manual, at least level IV
  • A short, simple passage will be selected for sight-reading
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a current music teacher discussing the student’s repertoire, years of study, practice habits, and general musicianship to Mrs. Snyder at csnyder@nardin.org.
  • The scholarship recipient who receives a music scholarship is expected to be an integral part of the performing arts program by:
    • Being actively engaged in Band/Orchestra
    • Applying herself earnestly towards excellence in music by maintaining a B+ average in Band/Orchestra
    • Presenting herself as a leader and a role model for her peers in Band/Orchestra
    • Engaging in music-making opportunities outside the school environment

Leadership Scholarship: $500

This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the classroom, school community or on a sports team.​​​​​​ Students must be nominated by their school principal, counselor, teacher or coach.

How to apply:

Service Scholarship: $500

This scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated outstanding humility and compassion in serving others. Students must be nominated by their school principal, teacher or community leader where service is performed.

How to apply:

Vocal Performance Scholarship: $500

This scholarship is awarded to students who excel in music and vocal performance.

How to apply:

  • Complete the Vocal Audition form by December 20, 2019
  • One piece from the NYSSMA Manual, at least level IV
  • A short, simple passage will be selected for sight-reading
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a current music teacher discussing the student’s repertoire, years of study, practice habits, and general musicianship to lgordon@nardin.org.
  • The scholarship recipient who receives a vocal scholarship is expected to be an integral part of the performing arts program by:
    • Being actively engaged in Choir
    • Applying herself earnestly towards excellence in music by maintaining a B+ average in Choir
    • Presenting herself as a leader and a role model for her peers in Choir
    • Engaging in music-making opportunities outside the school environment
