On Tuesday, February 6, the U.S. Olympic Committee and Ski and Snowboard officials announced that a recent Nardin Academy graduate, Tricia Mangan '15, will be going to the Winter Olympics. Mangan has been added to the U.S. Alpine Ski team and is scheduled to compete in the giant slalom on Monday and the super combined on February 23 at the Pyeongchang games.
Mangan first competed on the national scene in the 2013 Nor-Am Cup and National Junior Championships in Colorado. She qualified for the U18 National Training Group when she was a sophomore at Nardin and in her senior year she was named to the U.S. Team D and then the Team C.
Recently she finished first in two Nor-Am Cup Super G races at Copper Mountain and was second in Alpine Combined. Just last week, she was fourth in the Super G at the FIS Junior World Championships in Davos, Switzerland.
Tricia Mangan's brother Andrew Mangan '18, of Canisius High School, visited Nardin just this past Monday to share his inspirational story with the Nardin High School students.
Congratulations, Tricia! We are all cheering for you!!
