Nardin Academy High School senior Alyssa Nowicki has been selected as a National Merit Semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Nowicki joins a nationwide pool of Semifinalists who represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and include the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Over 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools across the country entered the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Nowicki will have the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship Competition, which offers approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million and includes both corporate-sponsored and college-sponsored awards.
Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. National Merit Scholarship winners of 2019 will be announced beginning in April and the scholarship recipients will join 338,000 other distinguished young people who have earned the Merit Scholar title.
