Our new school year begins with tremendous excitement. Dynamic new faculty have joined the staff of all four of our schools; we have new leaders in both the Lower and Middle schools lending energy and insight; there are new innovative classrooms and community learning spaces - designed with input from our students - and of course our beautiful and bright students are ready to embark upon a new school year. Our school is bursting with energy as we welcome our students back to Nardin Academy.
Among many 2018-2019 initiatives, we have challenged ourselves with setting expectations of excellence beyond the amazing academic achievements our students are known for. Athletics, an important part of the Nardin experience for nearly 85% of our student body, has developed strategies focused sharply on our coaching staff and their commitment to building teams that are balanced, prepared and competitive. A strong athletic experience enriches our students' experiences and we, in conjunction with an athletic task force, are committed to providing that excellence.
Our mantra this year is "community and communication". Plans to launch the Nardin Academy Parent Association (NAPA) are in place. The organization's purpose is to coordinate volunteers from across the academy who generously give of their time to promote a school community that is supportive and fun! Please keep an eye out for information to come on the many ways to become involved.
Our plans for communicating important calendar information are well underway. You will notice enhancements to our calendar, located on our website, that feature school-specific customizations, while also providing reliable and comprehensive academy-wide information. Details of how to access and sort the information for your family will be sent by your principal by week's end.
Additionally, I am happy to announce the release of the Nardin Academy iOS app, available on Apple iTunes. The app will provide you with a convenient way to access the parent directory, academy-wide calendar (sortable by school) and your school handbook. You will receive an email from Melissa Sheehan, Chief Technology Officer, on login information.
As we think about community, one thing I ask, as we fall into our routine, is to be thoughtful about our neighbors during high traffic times. We are fortunate to be part of this wonderful neighborhood community and we try very hard to be a good neighbor.
Thank you for being part of our amazing community. Enjoy all of the energy that you will experience this year. Together, we will have the privilege of watching your child discover his or her interests and talents and grow in ways that will amaze us.
