News Producer Kicks Off Alumni Speaker Series

More than a decade after she graduated from the high school, WGRZ Channel 2 News Executive Producer Kate Songin Measer ’07 returned to Nardin to share her personal and professional experiences and kick off the Alumni Speaker Series.

“I spent my entire Eighth grade year at Roswell Park as a cancer patient. Nardin welcomed me as a Freshman with open arms, and it has not let me go ever since,” Kate said.

During her nEXt block talk, Kate showed a video that the Channel 2 Promotions Department made for Nardin students, quizzed them on current events and passed around the Emmy® Award she won for coverage of the shooting that occurred at a Republican Congressional baseball practice.

Currently, Kate oversees Channel 2’s new 4 p.m. show “Most Buffalo,” which was recognized by the Buffalo News for its “creative new sisterhood.” She returned to Western New York this year after working in other television markets for almost a decade.

Before moving home, Kate was an evening news producer at NBC’s local affiliate station in Washington, D.C., where she won two regional Emmy® Awards. Prior to that, she spent several years as the morning news producer at KPNX 12 News in Phoenix.

Kate received a Bachelor degree in Communications from Canisius College. She is also an alumna of the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.

Nardin Academy’s Office of Institutional Advancement sponsors the Alumni Speaker Series, inviting accomplished graduates to share their expertise and life lessons with current students each month.
