Join the Nardin Academy community for Open House on Sunday, September 30, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and Monday, October 1, 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. as the high school shares its exciting new programs with prospective students, including a newly designed schedule that aligns with brain research on student learning.
The new schedule, created with the help of Independent School Management (ISM), includes longer class periods to go in-depth in each subject area using interactive teaching methods while supporting retention of material and time for reflection as students develop a love of learning. To support student-athletes, the new schedule also allows Nardin athletes the opportunity to opt-out of gym while in-season, rejoining the class the day after their last game.
As part of the school day, community time accommodates faculty office hours, school-wide morning meeting, advisory and clubs. Students participated in redesigning a media maker space, the home of the school newspaper and yearbook club, and two new community spaces.
Beginning this January, a new week-long program, WinterMission, will offer high school students opportunities for local, national, and international experiential educational immersions. Designed by Nardin faculty, options will include entrepreneurship opportunities in Buffalo, such as bringing a student-run coffee shop to campus, or traveling to Washington, D.C. as part of a Student Leadership Academy connecting students with alumni working at NBC News, the National Gallery of Art, Brian Higgins Congressional Office, and the Pentagon. Traveling to Italy and Costa Rica will be the two international WinterMissions in 2019.
Open House is the perfect opportunity to see the updated spaces and learn more about the new schedule. Receive a tour, meet with Nardin's outstanding faculty and staff, and connect with the students who call Nardin home. Shadow days are also available beginning in October, with personal visits upon request.
