Nardin Academy Announces $1 Million Gift

Donation will help fund outdoor athletic fields

Nardin Academy is proud to announce a $1 million gift made by the Mod-Pac Charitable Fund.

The gift is the second $1 million gift received by Nardin Academy in the last year and will help fund the continued development of land at 1801 Elmwood Avenue, less than two miles north of the school’s Cleveland Avenue campus. In 2015, Nardin built an indoor athletic facility at the location which includes seven squash courts and an indoor soccer field.

Currently, construction is underway to build an outdoor community athletic complex, which will include two multi-use athletic fields, a softball diamond, bleachers, lighting, locker rooms, and restrooms.

"This community partnership project will be the first of its kind in Western New York," said Nardin Academy President Marsha Joy Sullivan. "Connecting with and serving people of all backgrounds is a cornerstone of our mission and vision, and we are excited to be the first independent school to establish partnerships with community-based program providers."

The future Nardin Academy Community Athletic Complex will revitalize a neighborhood by redeveloping industrial land to create green space that will support physical activity and play. Nardin plans to partner with public organizations and program providers once construction is complete and is committed to allocating 30% of prime hours to community use.

"Mod-Pac is honored to support the efforts of Nardin to expand access to athletic fields within the community we call home," said Daniel Keane, Mod-Pac President and CEO and Nardin parent.

The complex will be a collaborative local asset that will provide access to a quality youth sports experience, regardless of zip code or ability.

"Nardin is blessed to have people who believe deeply in our mission and vision for the future, and this gift is a tangible and significant investment in our school," Sullivan added. "This incredible donation is evidence that Nardin Academy is more than a worthy investment; it is the only private school that is building an athletic complex with a shared-use component, with the purpose of adding value to the whole community, not just our private students."

Nardin Academy provides every student with the best in education through its commitment to the highest standards of excellence in academics, athletics, the arts and service. For generations, Nardin Academy has been educating and supporting its students so each student is inspired to reach his or her true potential.
