After School Art:
A variety of art programs is available after school from 3:00 - 4:30 PM. Each course runs for approximately 6 weeks. Information will be sent home with the students. Parent volunteers are welcome to help the art teachers with the program. Click here for the sign up sheet.

After School Supervision:
As a service to working parents, this program is available for students from 3:00 PM to 5:30 PM for an additional hourly fee on a regular or as needed basis. Outdoor games, board games, unstructured play, and a daily snack are the main activities of this multi-age group. There is also a quiet work period in which students can work on homework and seek tutorial help if needed. Students who have music lessons or after school sports may use this service. The fee will be indicated on the tuition bill. Click here for more information.

Dance:
An after school ballet program for students in Montessori through grade 8 is available. Instruction is once a week and students of all abilities are invited to participate. A 6 week Jazz/Tap class is offered in the spring. Both Ballet and the Jazz/Tap classes perform at Performing Arts Night in the spring.

Buffalo News Spelling Bee:
Sixth, seventh, and eighth graders compete first at the classroom level, then in front of the school to win the honor of representing Nardin in the annual Buffalo News Spelling Bee. The winner takes a written test which may lead to further live competition and ultimately national competition held in Washington, DC.

Chorus:
Students in grades 3-8 may audition for the Nardin Chorus which performs for the school and in the community throughout the year. Its fine reputation has even led to some television exposure. Participants work in a musical ensemble and are given the opportunity to do solo singing as well.

Instrumental Music:
Private music lessons are given after school to students who wish to pursue the study of instrumental music at this location.

It's Academic:
Students in grades 6-8 may participate on the "It's Academic" teams which compete locally and in competitions via computer. They practice weekly, answering challenging and provocative questions. Practices are held during lunch. Participation broadens the students' knowledge and cultural literacy. Questions draw on common background knowledge, current events awareness, and the acquisition of organized knowledge vital to everyday life experiences.

Literary Magazine:
"Expressions" is a literary magazine that contains a piece of writing or artwork from each student. The magazine is published each spring. This work involves the combination of Language Arts and Technology classes.

Math Team:
Sixth and Seventh grade students are chosen to compete in national, state, and regional math competitions. The mission of the Math Team is to increase interest in the study of mathematics and develop problem solving abilities in real-life situations

Musical:
A musical production is an opportunity available to students in grades 6-8. Auditions in September determine the cast for the play which is performed in November. Cast members rehearse daily in Dance/Music classes. Opportunities to be part of stage crew are also offered to 8th grade students.

Orchestra:
The Nardin Elementary Orchestra is open to students in grades 4-8 who are proficient in playing an instrument. Orchestra members rehearse once a week and perform for the school throughout the year.

Retreats:
Students in the grade 8 are given the opportunity to take time for reflection. A day away from their routine allows them to examine what is in their hearts and their minds within the context created by the teachers on the retreat team. These days are special and an integral part of the Nardin experience.

Ski Club/
Adventure Club:

Students in grades 5-8 may choose either to ski on Friday afternoons in January and February or be a member of the Adventure Club. Students involved in ski club leave school at 11:30 AM for an afternoon and evening of downhill skiing at Holiday Valley. Lessons are included and skiers may rent equipment if they do not have their own. Students who participate in Adventure Club enjoy a wide range of activities such as bowling, sledding, ice skating and arts.

Student Council:
Homeroom representatives are elected from the fifth through eighth grades to form the Student Council. This body's president is an eighth grader elected by all members of these grades, while the vice president is a similarly elected seventh grader. The group organizes school projects and social events through the year.

Yearbook:
The Nardin yearbook is a much-anticipated chronicle of people and events from the current school year. Eighth grade students are given the opportunity to collaborate on their own special sections - gathering pictures, writing copy, and selecting formats. The eighth grade committee then works with the rest of the class to produce what is for them and for all of us a wonderful remembrance of the school year.
