Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry is the heart and soul of the Nardin community. The campus ministry office is open for all students to come in and visit, present ideas for collections or fund raisers and request prayers for special intentions.
LITURGY
Campus Ministry plans all school liturgies. Masses are held once per month usually in conjunction with holy days. There is a special inter-faith prayer service held at Thanksgiving for students of various faiths to present prayers from their religions. The service is planned by the students; it is very beautiful to experience prayers in Greek, Islam, Hebrew, Orthodox, Lutheran, Baptist, Native American, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Methodist, Maronite, and Roman Catholic.
Students fill all the ministry roles at mass including altar servers, lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. The Chapel Singers and Orchestra provide music and singing to enhance our liturgies. Our school chaplain is Fr. Roy Herberger. Daily Mass is open to students and faculty at 7:25 a.m.
DAY OF PRAYER
Campus Ministry is happy to announce the addition of Eucharistic Adoration every first Friday in the chapel from 8:30-3:00 p.m. The sacrament of reconciliation will be available at 1:30 p.m. on the first Fridays in the reflection chapel. Students are invited to stop in for our first Fridays Day of Prayer for a few minutes during an open period. Religion classes participate too by coming to the chapel together for prayer.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Campus Ministry has a close relationship with St. Luke's Mission of Mercy. Nardin students volunteer at Thanksgiving, Christmas and the summer camp program. At Thanksgiving and Christmas, over 2,000 bags of food are packed. Our students love to contribute to this awesome effort. In addition, we sponsor food drives for St. Luke's pantry as well as collecting over 600 toys for Christmas distribution. Nardin girls also meet with local families at St. Luke's to sign them up to receive toys for their children.
Nardin students are required to complete 60 hours of service during their four years. There are many opportunities posted outside the campus minisitry and guidance offices.
RETREAT
Campus Ministry provides retreats for all students. The senior class retreat is held in the fall on the beautiful grounds of the Centerland Conference Center in Elma. The junior class retreat takes place at Harvest House, another beautiful retreat setting in South Buffalo. The sophmore and freshman retreats break into small groups of 20 students per retreat and take place in the chapel after school from 4:00-7:00 p.m. These retreats are facilitated by seniors. The focus of the retreats is to spend quality time together, to explore our spiritual relationship with God, to pray for one another's intentions and to have fun! We think we are doing a great job because kids are pleasantly surprised at how much they have enjoyed their experience.
PEER HELPER CLUB
Campus Ministry moderates the Peer Helper Club. Peer Helpers meet monthly in the chapel. Our main focus is to support the school and greater community. Peer Helpers respond to requests from organizations like Hospice, Roswell Park and many others looking for volunteers to participate in fund raisers. Peer Helpers takes the lead on drives like Becca's Closet which collects formal dresses and accessories for girls that may not be able to afford to go to their prom. This year, led by sophomore, Jackie Bobo, Nardin girls donated over 100 dresses.
FRESHMAN EXPERIENCE
The Peer Helper Club sponsors the Freshman Experience held in August for incoming Freshman. The peer helpers also serve as "big sisters" to the frosh.
Campus Minsitry welcomes all students to come in and get involved!!!
