Nardin Montessori Early Childhood Program
The first step toward a life of wonder
Because it’s one thing to watch your children, and another to watch them grow.
In life, it’s important to get a running start. At Nardin Academy Montessori, your child benefits from an unrivaled opportunity to develop a lifelong passion for learning, at its own pace. Founded in 1963 as the first Montessori school in Western New York, our school focuses on the whole child and encourages both peer group and self-learning, a perfect training ground for your young learner.
WHAT MAKES A NARDIN MONTESSORI EDUCATION UNIQUE?
At Nardin, a Montessori education is characterized by a focus on the whole child. Activities promote the development not only of cognitive skills, but also of emotional growth, physical coordination and social interaction. This development occurs in a carefully designed environment that is aesthetically pleasing and enticing to the child.
Nardin Montessori fosters self-esteem, independence, self-motivation, respect for others and a strong sense of community. The program continuously supports students while they build an intrinsic pleasure for learning.
THE MONTESSORI CLASSROOM
Our Montessori classroom provides an opportunity for the child to reach his or her maximum potential through experiential learning. The classroom materials are designed for exploration and creative development and stimulate interest and involvement. They are multisensory, sequential and self-correcting, and facilitate the learning of skills and abstract ideas.
Peer learning is also an important aspect of the Montessori philosophy. All classes contain a multi-aged grouping of students, allowing interaction and reinforcement between experienced and younger children. Three to six-year-olds learn together in the early childhood classrooms and first through third graders are in the self-contained elementary classroom.
THE ROLE OF THE MONTESSORI TEACHER
The role of the Nardin Montessori teacher in the classroom is to design the environment, guide and facilitate the child's learning, act as a role model, and serve as a keen observer of the child's total development. All Montessori teachers have a baccalaureate degree and an American Montessori Society (AMS) credential.
