Nardin Academy
Welcome From The President
Welcome to Nardin Academy. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about our amazing school. Nardin Academy was founded 151 years ago by the Daughters of the Heart of Mary, a society of religious women, as the first Catholic free school in the Diocese of Buffalo. In 1857, at the request of then Bishop Timon, Miss Ernestine Nardin, DHM, brought four women from Cleveland to his Diocese of Buffalo to answer a call. This simple act, so many years ago, reflects the charism of the Daughters of the Heart of Mary that remains alive in our school.
Today we continue the tradition of providing a strong value-centered Catholic education. Every day you will find an energetic and enthusiastic student body, ages 3 to 18, experiencing a love of learning that is designed to develop the body, mind and spirit.
Nardin Academy encompasses three unique schools. Our Montessori Early Childhood and Primary first through third grade Programs are housed in a beautifully restored mansion on West Ferry and enroll approximately 150 students. Our traditional Elementary Program offers a whole language model for first through eighth grade boys and girls located on our Cleveland Avenue campus. Nardin Academy High School, rated #1 locally, is a school for young women, enrolling approximately 450 annually. All three schools reflect our commitment to excellence in academic and character development. Today nearly 1,000 students benefit from the instruction of an outstanding faculty and staff of 150 professionals.
If you are a parent or alum please use this new website to check on daily school matters or to find an old friend. The Nardin Alumnae Association supports a network of more than 4,000 high school graduates living all over the world. Our High School alumnae stay connected through regional chapters as well as through programming administered through an involved leadership board here in Buffalo.
Of course, if you are so inclined, you can also make a much appreciated gift to our Annual Fund on our Giving pages on this site.
As President of Nardin Academy, I welcome and invite you to come for a visit if you are new to us, or come back for a visit if you've been away. We are a caring and close community, gathering for the benefit of the students that grace us each day. We take pride in our 151 year tradition and are committed to the charism inherited from our founding Daughters of the Heart of Mary; To strive to enkindle the spirit of Jesus in the world and to pray and work for the reign of God in a just society.
