Re:       Revised drop off and student pick up procedures

Dear Nardin Families:

In preparation for the upcoming construction that will be taking place at the Cleveland Avenue building, we have to make necessary changes to student drop off and pick up procedures.  These procedures will go into effect starting Tuesday, May 28, 2019 and will continue until further notice.

The following is a summary of the changes:

1.      No cars will be permitted to enter the Nardin Academy property from Auburn Avenue.
2.      Lower/middle school drop off and pick up traffic should enter off Cleveland Avenue on the elementary side of the building (the west end of the building) –   please pull up to the door where the sign indicates it is the drop off/pick up zone.  Drop your child off letting them out of the car on the side which puts them on the walkway.  Pick up at the end of the day will be the same as it currently is with one change – the time of pick up will move to 3:15 pm to allow the buses to move off Cleveland Avenue.  Students will continue to be held in supervised dismissal rooms.  Please be respectful of our neighbors who need to get down the street by not lining up ahead of the pickup time which then blocks traffic on Cleveland Avenue.  Cars that come to the school ahead of the pickup time will be asked to keep moving by security personnel and to return at the proper pickup time so that traffic is not blocked in any way.  All cars will be directed to exit after drop off and pick up left onto Auburn (traveling toward Elmwood Avenue).
3.      High school drop off and pick up traffic should enter off Cleveland Avenue on the high school side of the building (the east end of the building - in Nardin’s driveway next to the Garrett Club).  Pull up to the door where the sign indicates it is the drop off/pick up zone.  The time of pick up will move to 3:15 pm to allow the buses to move off Cleveland Avenue. All cars will be directed to exit after drop off and pick up right onto Auburn Avenue (traveling toward Delaware Avenue).  Students will enter the building in the high school gymnasium and will follow signage directing them where to go.
4.      If you have a student in both the high school and the lower/middle school, please use the lower/middle school entrance/exit for drop off and pick up as it will be easier for our faculty to know which door you will be using.
5.      Security monitors and/or staff will be outside to assist with these new procedures (they will be wearing reflective vests to identify them).  Please follow their directions as they have been instructed in the new procedures and what needs to be done to safely and efficiently move traffic.
6.      Signage will be located in several places, including entrances, exits, and drop off/pick up zones.
7.      A map is enclosed identifying the new traffic patterns.
8.      Instructions are also available on Nardin’s website at www.nardin.org/expansion.  If you have not already loaded the Nardin App, we strongly urge you to do so as the App will be used in the future to push out immediate notifications of any changes or other updates related to traffic patterns, safety, etc.
9.      These side entrances will be used only for drop off and pick up of students; they will be locked down at all other times.  If you are dropping off or picking up a student during the day or after school hours (including after-school programs and sports practices), please continue to use the front entrance (on Cleveland Avenue).

As always, the first few days are the most difficult and we ask for your patience with the new process.  The safety of our students is our utmost concern and we appreciate your understanding as we make adjustments to our procedures to ensure this safety.

Thank you in advance for cooperation, and as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Very truly yours,
