Varsity Gold A team of Kaitlyn Vogel, Ella Dileo, Grace VanVessem finishes 11th/53 teams. Ella was the top finisher for Nardin, finishing 22nd out of 110 in the Gold race. Ainsley Boras was Nardin's top finisher in the Blue race, finishing in 29th/119 runners in the Blue race
Personal best swim in 200 Freestyle for Elena Braccio with a time of 2:18.31. Women's Medley relay consisting of Julia Connerton, Lauren Aquiline, Allison Borowiak, and Veronica Bargnesi came in 8th place. Freshman Megan Jermak placed fifth overall in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:19.09
The Gators swept Niagara Catholic in straight sets to win their first league match 3-0. Erin Wright led the team in kills with 7 followed by Leah Nanna with 4. Grace McNamara led the team with 12 aces followed by Madison Wild with 5. Julia Scott led the team in assets with 8 followed by Claire Skinner with 5 assists.
The Gators (4-1, 3-0 MMHSAA) extended their league unbeaten streak with a 4-0 victory over Sacred Heart in a battle for first place. Freshman Brigid Molloy scored twice, and juniors Ally Evoniuk & Lindsay Karas each tallied one goal in the victory.
The Gators had 33 shots on net.
"The team is working hard to get to states again," head coach Frank Cotroneo said, "We have a lot of new players [...] The girls are doing a nice job of learning."
Varsity and JV competed at the Lake Shore invitational at Evangola Park. The varsity team finished 3rd overall out of 25 teams, while the JV squad took 2nd place out of 12 teams. Grace VanVessem finished 14th place, Rachel Martin was 22nd place. In the JV race, Anne Attea was 5th, Alyssa Anderson 8th. Hannah Rashad, Bridgetta Ulrich and Emma Lawley rounded out the scorers, all finishing in the top 15.
Veronica Bargnesi won the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:06, Nicole Marchese won 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:06, Olivia Heltz won the 100 Freestyle with a time of 59.76, Megan Jermak won the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:05 and, Casey Aquiline won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:17
Nardin XC opened up it's league season by defeating St. Mary's Lancaster by a score of 22-37 and Gow 15-50. Grace VanVessem, Rachel Martin and Maggie Cryan formed a tight pack, leading the way for the Gators. Kaitlyn Vogel and Liz Galbo rounded out the scoring for the Gators. The team will travel to Rochester on Saturday for the McQuaid invitational, where they will be among 250+ schools competing in this prestigious meet.
The Gators came back from an 0-2 deficit again to tie SHA 2-2 in a hard fought battle on the road. Tori Fuzak & Caroline DiPasquale both scored, while Ellie Robertson played a stellar game in net making several key saves including a penalty!
Julia Connerton won the 200 freestyle, Megan Jermak won the 200 IM and 100 backstroke, Olivia Heltz won the 50 and 100 freestyle , Nicole Marchese won the 100 butterfly, and Veronica Bargnesi won the 500 freestyle.
Varsity squad finished in 19th out of 38 teams in the medium/large school race. JV squad finished 16th out of 24 teams in the medium school race. Ella Dileo was the top finisher, running 19:59. Grace VanVessem was the second Nardin finisher in a time of 20:37. Maggie Cryan ran a big personal best time of 20:46 to be Nardin's 3rd finisher in the varsity race. Alyssa Anderson and Hannah Rashad were the top JV finishers, taking 64th and 75th place respectively. Over 250 schools from the US and Canada competed in the meet.
Nardin XC continued it's winning ways, defeating both Sacred Heart and Buffalo Seminary. Ella Dileo led the charge, taking home the overall win in the race. Kaitlyn Vogel stepped up into the #2 role, taking home 4th place overall. Maggie Cryan and Rachel Martin took 7th and 8th places, with Liz Galbo rounding out the scoring in 11th place. The XC Gators are now 4-0 on the league season.
Grace VanVessem was Nardin's top finisher at the West Seneca invitational, finishing in 17th place. Rachel Martin was right behind taking 18th place with Ella Dileo (21st) and Maggie Cryan (24th) all placing in the top 25 places. The team finished 6th overall, only 10 points from 3rd place.
The XC team competed in their final invitational meet at Alden on Saturday. The varsity squad finished in 5th place, only 9 points from 3rd. The top 4 had a tight pack, finishing between 18th-25th place. Ella Dileo, Grace VanVessem, Maggie Cryan and Rachel Martin were Nardin's top 4. Alyssa Anderson was the top finisher in the JV race, finishing in the top 20
The Gators remained undefeated in league, beating both previously undefeated Mt St Mary's and Nichols 23-34. Five girls finished in the top 10 of the three-team race, with Ella Dileo and Grace VanVessem leading the way finishing 2nd and 3rd. Rachel Martin finished 7th, while Maggie Cryan and Kaitlyn Vogel finished 9th and 10th.
Nardin XC closed out it's undefeated regular season by beating Mt. Mercy 17-44. Nardin took 1st-4th with Kaitlyn Vogel garnering her first ever varsity win, followed closely by Grace VanVessem, Ella Dileo and Maggie Cryan. Abby Graber, Liz Galbo and Alyssa Anderson rounded out the scorers for the Gators. Mia Sidor and Emma Lawley took home 1st and 2nd in the JV race. Congratulations to seniors Liz Galbo, Riley Noe, Julia Wing and Caroline Mahoney who had their final regular season XC race.
Nardin XC closed out it’s league season by winning both the JV and Varsity titles at the All-Catholic Championships. The varsity squad was paced by Ella Dileo (4th place), followed by a pack of Gators. Finishing 8th-11th were Grace VanVessem, Rachel Martin, Maggie Cryan and Kaitlyn Vogel. Rounding out the varsity scorers were Abby Graber in 14th and Liz Galbo in 20th. The JV team had a 1-2 finish by Hannah Rashad and Alyssa Anderson. Mia Sidor and Anne Attea took 5th & 6th with Ainsley Boras finished in 8th. The varsity team earned a berth at the NYS Federation Championships on Nov. 18 at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY. Congratulations to both teams on an incredible meet!
Nardin XC finished 27th as a team at the NYS Federation meet held at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, NY. This meet was invitation only for only 27 of the top teams and 70 of the top individuals in New York State. Ella Dileo was Nardin's top finisher, finishing in 194th place. She was followed by Grace VanVessem, Kaitlyn Vogel, Abby Graber, Maggie Cryan, Rachel Martin and Liz Galbo. All of the girls competed furiously over the challenging course against ultra-stiff competition, which included the #1 and #4 runners in the USA!
