Varsity Basketball Heading to State Semi-Finals

Nardin Academy Varsity Basketball will be advancing to the New York State Girls Catholic High School Athletic Association semi-finals after a 31-20 Monsignor Martin Class B Championship win over Buffalo Seminary on Saturday at Villa Maria College.

Nardin coach Kendra Brim '07, who helped Nardin win a Class C state championship as a student, said "our theme coming into this was to play four solid quarters. The third quarter has been our worst quarter all year and it was again today, but we fought through it."

Nardin senior and game MVP, Alex Hartnett, netted 10 points, with junior Maddie Marks adding six points.

Two Nardin seniors, Abby Adams and Sydney Scello, have been selected for 1st Team All Catholic and senior Alex Hartnett has been selected for 2nd Team All Catholic.

"The girls earned this trip to state, and I really wanted them to be able to experience that," Brim said. "We're very excited. We worked hard all year for this moment."

The semi-finals will be held on Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m. versus St. Joseph High School of Brooklyn, NY at Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, NY. Finals will be held at Fordham University on Saturday, March 11.

Safe travels and #GoGators!!
